Instead of Worrying…

The Power of Meyer’s Insight

Worry can consume us. It torments us and unfortunately the habit of worry can be addictive. Ask Joyce Meyer. She knows this from personal experience. Because of childhood abuse, her mindset was,

If you don’t expect anything good to happen, then you won’t be disappointed when it doesn’t.

So when this Christian lady speaks about how to defeat worry, I listen. Because she knows what she’s talking about.

An Action Plan

A yellow plastic bucket containing flowers, a plastic green watering can, and a tipped over blue plastic bucket.

When you begin to worry, go find something to do. Get busy being a blessing to someone; do something fruitful. …worrying is totally useless. Worrying will not solve your problem. (Joyce Meyer)

Until she renewed her mind, Joyce had no ability to experience peace or joy. Her inner world was completely darkened. So anything this teacher shares about defeating worry and finding freedom is worth listening to.

Blessing other people takes our mind off our own problems. It can also give us a healthy dose of perspective. Because there’s always others who would gladly trade their set of problems for ours.

But there’s something else we can do too.

Another Christian Woman’s Testimony

This mother became consumed by fear and anxiety when her military son was sent to Iraq on the eve of the U.S. invasion. She couldn’t eat. She couldn’t sleep. Constant worry over her son’s safety was wrecking her body, and the war hadn’t even started yet.

A woman waving colorful worship banners as she praises God.Finally in desperation, she grabbed a dish towel, cranked up the Christian worship music and started singing praises to the Lord. Her daughter soon joined her. They both danced around the room, swinging the dish towels above their heads.

To anyone else watching, they must have looked like lunatics.

But it worked.

Finally after several songs, the mother’s dark cloud of depression, fear and worry blew apart and a joyful release came. She’d picked up one of her spiritual weapons and used it until the devil’s attack crumbled. into dust.

My Spiritual Point

Renewing our minds is not a Christian chore. It’s the path to being set free of crushing negative emotions. It helps us experience daily the joy and peace Jesus died to give us.

I downloaded these images from Pixabay.com. In some churches, a few women dance and wave colorful praise banners before the Lord.
