Tests Lead to Testimonies

A Simple Truth

God is able to take the mess of our past and turn it into a message. He takes the trials and tests and turns them into a testimony. (Christine Caine)

God Values Honesty Not Pretense

Often Christians want to share triumphant testimonies.. But sharing our worse moments and past mistakes is valuable. It gives hope to the hearer. Because it highlights the mercy and tenderness of God.

The gospel stories about Jesus were eyewitness accounts. His twelve apostles shared their Savior’s teachings and miracles—and their own failures. Again and again, the apostles blew it. Yet they decided to honestly record their own stumbles. The gospels share some embarrassing rebukes, clueless moments and bad character flaws. These stories could have been erased from history. But they weren’t.

Instead, the apostles chose to be honest.

My Spiritual Point

For centuries, believers all over the world have been comforted, encouraged and blessed. Who hasn’t miserably failed, when following the Savior? The apostles’ struggles mirror ours.

Isn’t it great to know we serve a God who wants us to run toward Him when we sin? Who forgives and shows mercy? Especially when we don’t deserve it?

If we want to be comforted and strengthened, there’s two things we can do.

Ask the Holy Spirit to open our eyes.

Then read the gospels.
