Words of Warning

What one generation tolerates, the next generation will embrace. (John Wesley)

A Biography

John Wesley was an evangelist and preacher who traveled from town to town on horseback in the 1700s. Here’s some facts about his life.

  • John was born into a family of 19 children, but only 10 survived infancy.
  • Over his lifetime, Westley traveled 250,000 miles on horseback, sharing the good news about Jesus in churches, village greens, open fields and small cottages.
  • Churches seldom invited him to preach, but if they did, they frequently regretted it.
  • He firmly believed God only responded to prayers of faith. So Wesley prayed for four hours every morning, starting at 4:00 am.
  • Sometimes John preached four or five sermons in a single day.
  • Wesley eventually founded the Methodist Church.
  • He worked as a traveling evangelist and preacher for over 50 years until he died at the age of 87.
My Spiritual Point

We need to pray more deeply for the younger generations in our society, because John Wesley’s warning is true. People’s lives are being destroyed because of the lies they’ve been taught.

Only Jesus can turn back the tide of sin and immorality.
