A Delightful Fragrance

A Kitchen Mystery

I arrived home one day and instantly detected a delightful aroma in the kitchen. But where was the fragrance was coming from?

A green glass apple, hollowed out in the center, with a live snail sitting on top.No tasty restaurant take-out food stood on the counter. No stews simmering in a pot. No casserole baking in the oven. Even the crock pot lay unplugged, clean and empty. The microwave? Nothing there either.

I even opened the refrigerator, but the wonderful smell didn’t come from inside.

My mouth watered. I didn’t know where this dish was, but I’d enjoy eating it.

Yet here was a first class mystery.

Finally, I discovered the source of that delicious aroma.

My wonderful, tantalizing fragrance was coming from the garbage disposal.

My Spiritual Point

This is a true story of mine. Garbage never smelled so good.

But sin is like the false, pleasing aroma I smelled in my kitchen.

When we first sin in a new area, no one knows. Frequently, giving into sin is exciting and fun. But the end is always bitter, because the devil designed it to be so. We forget Satan loathes us. So every tempting “gift” he offers us is a trap.

Think of the addict facing jail time because they stole to feed their addiction. Or an adulterous affair which causes a parent to lose their children’s respect and love.

Don’t be fooled the the delicious smell of garbage.
