Fulfilled: A Key End-Times Prophesy

The Knowledge Explosion

Many Christians think we are living in the end times.  I do myself. But one of the best signs has been largely ignored. Because in the end times, “knowledge will increase.”The Soyuz satellite, orbiting the earth.

But you, Daniel, keep these words secret, and seal up the book until the time of the end. Many will rush here and there as knowledge increases. (Daniel 12:4 CJB)

For most of human history, over thousands of years:

  • People traveled on foot or used an animal, such as a horse, camel or donkey.
  • Ships on the open sea relied on wind power or human rowers.
  • No one knew what caused disease, so the medical theories and treatments were…unusual.
  • News traveled slowly, by courier.
  • No radios or televisions existed. Neither did the telegraph, until 1844.
  • Women frequently died during childbirth.
  • Antibiotics didn’t exist, so people died of minor wounds which became infected.
  • Infant mortality was high.
  • The average life expectancy in 1900 was between 46-48 years.
Now that is Progress!

Let’s trace the knowledge explosion during one man’s long life.

The comedian George Burns lived to be 100 years old. He was born in 1896 and died in 1996. In his lifetime, someone invented radio, television, airplanes, the polio vaccine, rockets, space exploration, ENIAC the first computer, organ transplants, cell phones, satellites, VHS and DVD technology, the atom bomb and the Internet. The first car got invented before George was born, but only 10 years earlier, in 1886.

Looking at it from this direction, it just appears to me as if God had everything to do with this sudden increase of human knowledge and understanding.

So check the Daniel 12:4 prophesy off the list. Because it’s been fulfilled in a spectacular way.
