Ask our Divine Protector

The Night Sky of London

London at night.

“…Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil: for he gives to his beloved sleep.” Psalm 127.1-2 ESV (Only the second half of verse 1 is quoted.)

Our Greatest Help

In our fight against terror, are we forgetting our most powerful weapon? There is only One who sees everything done in secret and knows the hidden plans of evil men.

It’s time to unleash the one weapon which no enemy has any defense against.

As Christians we need to ask the Holy Spirit to move.

Some Suggestions:

So how should we pray?

First of all, notice Jesus says to pray for our enemies (Matthew 5:44). So ask God to spiritually open the eyes of those men and women deceived by Islamic extremism. Pray hard for Jesus to save and redeem these people and their families.

Do you have a hard time believing God could do such a great, life-changing work in a terrorist’s heart?

I don’t.

After all, He’s done it before.

In history, Saul of Taurus was the greatest terror the early church faced. He was a murderous enemy against Christ’s followers—until a supernatural encounter with Jesus (Acts 9). After miraculously talking with Christ, Saul became Paul, the great Apostle to the Gentiles—us!

Being against the terrorists’ actions, I also pray a few more things too.

  • Disunity.
  • Confusion.
  • Infighting.
  • Exposure of hidden plots.
  • Miscommunication.
  • Thwarted schemes.
  • Faulty equipment.
  • Aborted missions.

We need to pray against the evil in this world.

A Website Reflecting God’s Heart

Have you ever heard of a website called “Pray for Isis?”

This site has a 30-day prayer guide, information about different Islamic countries and people groups, worship videos and testimonies.

Short on time? Just pray that day’s prayer.

On different days you’ll also be led to pray for refugees, ravaged cities, poverty, unstable governments and disenfranchised youth. On day 29, we all ask God to turn radicals into peacemakers, as He did with Saul.

These prayers are powerfully written, so please check this site out: Pray for Isis.

Last Thoughts

When Islamic extremism wins territory, the main victims are the people living under the new oppressive regime’s daily cruelties. Almost all the territory the Islamic extremists control is in the Middle East. So the people who suffer most are the peaceful, loving Muslim families who just want to raise their children in safety.

The west has suffered horrific large-scale attacks, but these Muslims suffer every day. No one fears or hates Islamic extremism more than they do.

The worshipers of Allah aren’t our enemies–they’re our mission field.
