2019 Spring Memes

These memes have been used in different posts over the last year or so. I’ve included links to each post under “Resources.”

Please feel free to share any of my memes.

A darkened manger on a hillside in the foreground and 3 crosses lit with sunlight in the background.

“Did you ever stop to think that God is going to be as pleased to have you with Him in Heaven as you are to be there?” (A.W. Tozer)

Before I saw this quote by one of my favorite authors, I can honestly say this thought never occurred to me and I’m firmly anchored in the truth that Jesus loves me.

Waves crashing on a rocky shore.

Jesus doesn’t call us to be tolerant, He calls us to be compassionate.” M.H. Puccini (me)

In my experience, active compassion personally costs a great deal more. My favorite example of instant compassion is a single man who turned his whole life upside down to save a stranger.

A yellow autumn maple leaf wrapped around a strand of barbed wire.

“Most Christians pray to be blessed. Few pray to be broken.” (Leonard Ravenhill)

When I looked for an image to go with these words, my mind got captured by this golden autumn leaf draped over a strand of barbed wire.

Two sheep standing in a little clear-glass shelter at a bus stop.

“Waiting for a bus? ‘Wandering sheep’ indeed!” M. Puccini (me again)

The minute I saw this image I laughed. These sheep aren’t just wandering off casually. They’re waiting for a bus so they can make a clean getaway! This image goes perfectly with a post I wrote a few months ago, called “The Good Shepherd: Straying Sheep.”

Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem., with the words, "Jews for Jesus established A.D.32, give or take a year."

“Jews for Jesus Established A.D.32—give or take a year.” (From the Jews for Jesus website.)

When I saw these words in the Jews for Jesus literature, I had to laugh, because it’s 100% true!

An open oyster with a pearl inside.

“God changes caterpillars into butterflies, sand into pearls and coal into diamonds using time and pressure. He’s working on you, too.” (Rick Warren)

A cave in Croatia with water almost filling the cave's entrance.

“Jesus will life you out of the deepest pit but He will not lift you out of your easy chair.” (Reinhard Bonnke)

Because of this image, I wrote about the Thailand soccer team trapped in the flooded cave. All 13 had just been rescued a few weeks before.

Resources:

I paired Tozer’s words with the manger and 3 crosses image in a short Christmas post called “Our Heavenly Father’s Greatest Joy.”

The crashing waves meme about compassion led to a post called “Jesus’ Challenge to His Followers.”

For the golden leaf and barbed wire meme, I wrote a post called “There is Great Power in Brokenness” and my definition of being broken might surprise you.

My wandering sheep meme wasn’t used for this post, but it fits the subject matter. Click on the link for “The Good Shepherd: Straying Sheep.” If your heart is hurting because someone you love has walked away from the church and Christ, I hope you’ll be encouraged and comforted, because the Good Shepherd goes after straying sheep.

My ancient Jerusalem church meme became part of a post called “Jews for Jesus.”

The oyster with the pearl inside? Check out “Creating Pearls: God’s Transforming Work in Us.”

The flooded cave image became “The Thailand Cave Rescue.”
